This post is an entry for BritMums #KidsGrowWildChallenge
Olivia and I received this big white box from the postman. I ran up to her bedroom and showed her the package. As we looked inside it held a lovely new gardening kit. “Just what we need mummy” I was just as excited as Olivia because we’ve just moved into a lovely house with a beautiful big garden. This was our opportunity to get planting some pretty flowers!
Oh but even though Olivia would soon be turning one years old her diary was ever so busy this week. Especially today as she had a play date planned.
“Well Olivia I am sure your friends would love to do a spot of gardening with you?” I passed her the documents included in the package and she read all of her instructions! A very clever one year old. Then she text all of her baby buddies on her plastic mobile phone and told them to bring their green fingers for a gardening day!
The gardening bag included 3 packs of seeds, a mini shovel and fork, a pair of gloves and a watering can. There were plenty of items to share around amongst friends.
The kiddies chose a spot to sit and decide who was going to do which task. Connor delegated each child a task whilst daisy being the second eldest handed out the tools. They dug the soil and poured in the seeds. Olivia decided she would like a blanket of mixed flowers in her garden patch so it did not matter how the seeds were spread.
Grace was chief digger with her fork and daisy poured the water with her shiny watering can. Connor tidied all the stones with his blue gardening gloves. Oliver and Olivia however did not help too much. They were too busy gazing into each other’s eyes. Although Oliver was a real gentleman and offered to carry the bag that the gardening goods were stored in.
Well what a busy day the children all had and we cannot wait to see the seeds grow. We are hoping they will sprout in time for Olivia’s first birthday. The garden will look beautiful for her party with pretty new flowers!
