We are not shy to a cruise.
As a family of cruisers we have sailed almost every ship from the Royal Caribbean fleet from short trips across to France to the mammoth Caribbean cruise on the Oasis departing out of Miami.
Today the Anthem of the seas will arrive at our home port in Southampton from Germany. As a seasoned cruiser of course I am excited to jump on board the new city of the sea and explore. But as a Mum to a very excited already platinum card holder two year old we are just dying to view Gigi! Who’s Gigi?!!
Gigi is a giant Giraffe. In a swimsuit. With a rubber ring. I have viewed the footage of Gigi’s journey and I already feel a closeness to him. A fine piece of art that both parents and Children can adore from both near and far. I predict Gigi will be a big hit on board the Anthem.
Cunard Mums
It is the little touches that make voyaging on a Cunard ship easier with a toddler. If you thought Cunard only catered for the more mature market should we say then you thought wrong. Times are changing, cruising is become extremely popular amongst a variety of age groups and it is apparent that Queen Victoria is the place to be for families of many generations to get together and sail away into the sunset. Grandparents occupying the ice cream machine with their precious grandchildren. Playgroup sessions filled with music and laughter. Afternoon tea – yet another small treat and a few minutes to steal a much needed rest before heading off to make more memories.
Queen Victoria understands a busy mums schedule. With nurseries on board staffed with fully qualified, calm and confident nannies, a dedicated and secure outdoor play area fully equipped with little tikes castles, playhouses, bikes and cars. And of course a climbing frame for the preschoolers.
Did I mention the many launderettes on several floors. Free to use and comes with washing powder!
Stress free meal times with a carefully selected kids menu in the grills or a pizza/pasta station in the Lido restaurant cooked fresh by the chef.
As I said though it’s the small things and care of the staff that really do make Cunard the most famous cruise liners in the world and continue their five star reputation.
My toddler had breakfast served in our room every morning so I could have a little time relaxing. Our butlers even delivered my daily juice of fruit and veg so I could continue my home juicing ritual. And if I needed five minutes to unwind there was always a therapist on hand to fix me at the spa whilst the nursery provided a fun safe place for my daughter to play.
