My family and I are thoroughly embracing autumn and spending as much time outdoors as possible. In my post today, we invite you to Enjoy a dinner under the stars this season. The Chimnea is burning away and the table decor screams galactic. A lovely evening treat of good food and company for my family.
We live deep in the countryside and our skies are not affected by light pollution. On a clear night, we can spend hours stargazing and chatting amongst ourselves about astronomy. Tonight is a special night and we are out here for an extremely exciting reason. The International space station is due to fly over our house at 20.18pm and we are waiting to spot the station shooting through the skies and lit up in all its glory. First, we must keep warm and fill our bellies with something stodgy and satisfying. I have used bright white fairy lights and candles to illuminate our eating area. To create a low hanging lighting effect along the length of my table, I made myself two simple poles which stand at either end. I simply cemented long bamboo canes into terracotta pots and popped a nail in the opposite end of the cane. I have used my DIY holders for lights and banners at events throughout the summer and store them in the shed when not in use.
