Are you looking for ideas on how to style a colorful kids party? This past weekend my Daughter just turned five. Luckily I had time to capture a few quick shots of how I arranged a color pop set up in our back garden.
Adding a pop of color to any event really is quite cost effective. Using white table linen meant that the weight of the cloth stayed on the table and gave me a base to work around and add color gradually. Balloons are a big favourite for my Daughter and we have them at every party. I ordered helium filled balloons from my local birthday store and matched the colors with the table accessories. Originally we were going for an Alice in Wonderland theme and the plates, along with the serving platters were multicoloured shades of purples and blues.
By hiring trestle tables and garden chairs enabled the kids to be seated together. I arranged the seating under the shade of a huge oak tree and hung decor from the thicker branches. Hanging from the branches meant a visual display all in one area keeping the event together. There were no distractions from the eating area and guests were able to enjoy a spectacular display of colour as well as a great photo backdrop.
I really love to use cardboard fans for decoration and feel as if they are coming a bit of a trademark for my events. Colored fans can be purchased from TK Maxx and HomeSense. Using small chandelier lamps make for really girly decor too. Just be sure not to hang directly above your guests head and keep at eye level for maximum visual effect.
My Daughter asked for roses on the table. We love to grow our own flowers at home. But I figured these closed poppy heads would look cool for the boys. I added some plastic reptiles on top.
We also made a giant sandpit and served bbq food and vegetable skewers for the kids. Frozen watermelon went down a treat also. Unfortunately, we were too busy having fun to snap shot the food.
