Last weekend our puppy Joy turned One. We cannot believe how quick the last 9 months have gone and already she has become one of the family. Of course, we were going to do what we do best… Throw a party for a Puppy.
If I ask my four years old what she would like at a party she will always choose balloons. I choose flowers, she chooses balloons. We knew for a while Olivia had wanted to give Joy paw print balloons at her birthday party so I hoped the party shop we used locally would stock them. We were really lucky that they had two paw print ones left in black and white. And the third animal skin balloon was chosen because Olivia delved her sticky fingers into the balloon pot and put it straight to her mouth, we had to buy it!
We are pretty easy going in our house and Olivia knows that she can go into the events cupboard anytime and decorate for parties. We have all sorts of crackers, bunting and party poppers. We decided to keep things simple and match up our party decor with the colour of the balloons. Olivia chose cardboard fans to add pattern and colour to the table. My fans are from Homesense.
I ordered the bone cutters during the week from Amazon as we thought it would be nice to bake some homemade dog treats! We also grabbed the paw print stickers from Amazon but I would not recommend them as they were poor quality and really fiddly for Olivia to stick.
Olivia loves to bake and whilst we were at the party shop buying the balloons we found some cute dog themed cake toppers. Naturally, we were offered the cake holders to add to our theme so we took those as well. Olivia had a lot of fun baking and decorating cakes for us to eat!
We hope you enjoyed stopping by our puppy themed party and if you are planning one then these ideas should prove a hit!!
Happy Birthday little Joy xx
