Today i have taken advantage of the good weather and started to plant out the first of my bulbs. This year as well as planting straight into the flower patch i have also decided to garden in terracotta pots. This way i will have bursts of color in which i can manage and move around the garden as i wish. I envisage multiple layers of color everywhere but also some pots have been filled using just one color tone and different bulbs.
Today i am sharing with you how i am creating weeks of color but with less work. Different bulbs are planted at different depths in the same pot to flower in succession.
The biggest bulbs which need deeper planting go at the base of the pot, leaving the smaller ones at the top. You can see in my picture how i have presented my bulbs.
Always plant nose up!
I plan to keep layering pots every two weeks to sustain an uneven pattern of spring blooms.
Have you planted anything in preparation for spring yet?
