Autumn officially started a few days ago which means there is a new batch of wildlife in our garden.
We have seen many visitors over the years including black squirrels and a hummingbird who has started searching for worms in our soil already this week, i just wish I had my camera ready at the right time to catch him bathing in the bird bath.
So this season I am going to make an extra effort to snap some pictures of the wildlife that come to visit our garden.
Until then i am going to share some top tips for attracting some new friends and making them stay long enough to be able to capture them in picture.
Firstly you will need a camera at the ready. Wildlife will always visit when they know we are distracted so keeping a camera on the window ledge inside the kitchen will enable you an easier opportunity to take a picture.
Entice wildlife into your garden with a treat or two on offer. In our garden we make sure that the squirrel box is always topped up with nuts and the bird bath has water in there.
And finally ask them to stay! We have a lovely wooden bug hotel which we have hidden in between the flower beds. It is a snug, safe place for them to sleep and shelter from the wind. We have had hedgehogs stopping by in the past too.
Now I already know that a huge majority of my readers come here because of their love of all things gardening and cut flowers which is why I am excited to pass on the word about a competition that Rattan direct are running from their website.
If you decide to put my tips into use and get the opportunity to capture a visitor in your garden (the wildlife sort) then you can go ahead and upload your picture to the link below for a chance to win a garden furniture set from rattan. I would love to win this set myself, especially as the weather is still so good in September so please do head over and enter. Enjoy wildlife spotting and don’t forget to plant those tulip bulbs this month!
