As per usual on a day we are willing for sunshine here in the uk we have rain forecast instead.
With plans to host a garden tea party for a very good group of friends we had to change our plans and leave the garden table vacant as we had a jolly indoors.
Of course we had cake, freshly backed lemon drizzle with icing on top pumped with extra lemon zest and decorated with a fresh batch of roses cut from the rose garden here at home farm. You can see in the image that they are doused in rain drops as the rain was so heavy.
I picked sweet peas and displayed them in delicate vases wrapped in twine and huge bunches of pink roses in grand glass vases wrapped in silk ribbon.
The table display looked divine along with my fine china Royal Doulton tea set in which i picked up in auction last year.
Our table is wooden and did not fit the theme for an English tea party and so i placed pink table cloth over it to hide the color. I then topped with white voil to give a dreamy look.
Among my flower display i also used thick green poppy heads. I have tons of stems in my garden and i love the fact that they are robust enough just to cut and throw into a sturdy, thick lipped jug. Of course i will save them until i decide to release the seeds for sewing in the next few months.
I just loved this elegant look.
