I never knew my Daughter would get so excited over a wash bag.
Aqua fresh are celebrating the launch of Disney.pixars new film Inside Out and have sent us a themed wash bag with lots of brush time goodies inside. Olivia has asked for it everyday, even during playtime and is really enjoying her new kit.
The film features the five emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness that children experience at brush time and can be difficult for children at such a young age to comprehend.
Through ‘inside out’ and ‘inside brush time’ Aquafresh hope to help parents to teaching their children to over come their emotions and understand the importance of Oral hygiene. The kit they have launched contains a squeezy toy, a wristband, some Aquafresh toothpaste with a toothbrush , a timer and some great character collections.
Now apparently 80 percent of children throw temper tantrums at brush time but thank you Lord for blessing me with a child that loves to brush her teeth.
After leaving school and dabbling in a hairdressing course in which was an unsuccessful achievement for me I noticed an opening for a dental assistant at the local practice l had been attending with my family through out my childhood. I was given the job and spent the next ten years attending night classes at college to gain the qualifications I needed to become a qualified dental nurse. I passed with a distinction and trained to be an oral healthcare advisor which meant I was/am qualified to teach people about oral hygiene.
I then went on to further my career in the dental field and trained as a sedation nurse, working in hospitals and clinics assisting special procedures for children and nervous patients. I was also lucky enough to work in private healthcare over seeing the fitting of dental implants.
So from working in a dental theater I have witnessed myself the consequences of poor hygiene in a child and being a qualified sedation/dental nurse I can relate to the pain of the parents that struggle to get their children to brush. I have nursed alongside surgeons who have carried out procedures on Three year old’s involving removing nearly all of their baby teeth because they have decayed to almost nothing. I have nursed this procedure on many of occasions over the years and so I am delighted that Aquafresh have approached the subject and are offering a fun brush time alternative to both children and parents.
Personally I do not think there is enough information on offer for parents and children and it is fantastic to see brands link together and help get the message out there.
This month i will be publishing a selection of posts with guidance and advice from both Myself and child behaviour specialist Lorraine Thomas on subjects from ranging how to make brush time fun, emotions children are faced with during challenging situations and advice on childrens dental health.
Do you have any concerns about your child’s oral hygiene and would you like to see more advice offered in schools?
