As a kid i was a real tom boy, always climbing trees and wanting to hang out with the lads. Summer evenings were spent playing british bulldog, marbles and stuck in the mud. Come wind, rain or shine we were always enjoying the great outdoors.
And then my teenage years came along. Gatherings in friends gardens and long treks in the woods. A group of us would set up camp and pitch tents, sleeping under the stars and rolling home at 6am in the morning. Of course Mummy always thought i was staying with a friend!
My adult years saw a different person emerge into life. I had grown into a pleasant young lady who loved make up and girly things and developed a taste for the finer things in life. I traveled the states and most of Europe and experienced pure luxury.
And then my baby came along. Becoming a mum has made me appreciate what life is all about. I want my Daughter to experience dancing in the rain, running bare foot through fields and getting muddy. All the best things in life really are free.
We geared up for our first festival and decided to try our hand at camping.I knew a pop up tent would not be sufficient with a tearaway toddler and so i contacted my local camping store and they provided us with an amazing camping kit.
As i browsed the different tents and camping equipment on display i was stunned at how advanced tents have become since my camping days! We agreed that the most important pieces of camping kit were obviously a tent, a table, a camping stove and a light. Not just any light. The light we have been loaned charges an iphone!
I will be covering all of our accessories later but first i would like to tell you about the Vango 550 tent we were loanded.
The tent comes flatpacked in a neat bag and requires only 3 poles to assemble. The sleeping area was spacious enough to sleep five comfortably on airbeds and the living area was big enough to store all of our belongings. Including our pull along festival wagon. We were able to stand up in the tent which was so important as i was chasing a toddler around all weekend so had to be quick on my feet for her! Another feature i liked was the fact that the tent came with an inner liner. It poured during one evening of our camping trip but we did not care! No leaks – just the sound of rain drops whilst we were all snuggled up.
I really enjoyed staying in our Vango tent from Complete Outdoors so stay tuned to see a review about a selection of some of the other camping products the store has to offer!
