Olivia has been brushing her teeth and gums (gnawing on her brush) since she was able to hold her own toothbrush. I have a qualification in the dental field so am actually a little anal about tooth hygiene!
A toothbrush is a good distraction during nappy changes and we have also made it part of her bedtime routine.
I believe you should start taking your baby to the dentist as young as 6 months. A few visits to get your child familiar with the smell and settings should prepare her for her first check up at around 18 months! Make it fun and praise your child. Dentists are not what they used to be. There is a reward of stickers also!
I am monitoring Olivia’s teeth and so far she is on track!
Maybe this chart will be useful for other mummies too!
